What is the 2026 American Mahjong card?
The 2026 National Mah Jongg League card lists the permitted winning hands for the 2026 card year under the League’s style of American Mah Jongg. The card is a reference used during play, not a replacement for a tile set or rules instruction.
Where can you get the official 2026 card?
Use the National Mah Jongg League’s official website at nationalmahjonggleague.org for current ordering information, or confirm that a retailer is offering a genuine authorized card. Availability, pricing and delivery times can change, so verify directly before purchasing.
Is the 2025 card the same as the 2026 card?
No. Annual winning-hand combinations are revised. Do not assume a hand shown on a 2025 card remains valid in 2026. The exact 2026 hand patterns should be read from the official 2026 card rather than from an unverified summary.
How to read the 2026 card
Start with the official legend, the meaning of color-coded tile groups, and the distinction between exposed and concealed hands. Then work through one section at a time, checking that your tiles match every requirement. Your group should use the same year of card.
Can you play with an older card?
You can agree to practice with an older card in a casual group, but you would be playing that older card year’s combinations rather than the current 2026 card. For an organized 2026 game, follow the rules and card required by the organizer.
What we do not reproduce
We do not publish a full scan, downloadable PDF or verbatim list of the copyrighted NMJL winning-hand patterns. This page explains how to obtain and use the official reference, without claiming endorsement by the League.
A beginner practice routine
Review the tile suits, identify jokers and flowers, learn the Charleston and exposure rules, then practice reading a single 2026 hand directly from your official card. Check each tile group and whether the hand must remain concealed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download a free PDF of the 2026 NMJL card?
Use the official issuer for authorized card access. We do not offer a downloadable reproduction of the copyrighted 2026 card.
Do I need the 2026 card to play American Mahjong?
If your group plays the 2026 NMJL card, each player should have access to that current card. Casual groups can agree on a different ruleset or card year.
Does the 2026 card come with a Mahjong tile set?
Not necessarily. Check the retailer listing: tile sets and official annual cards are often sold separately.
